James Hargrove spent a decade as a finish carpenter before starting this company. He'd seen every shortcut contractors take — the ones that look fine on walkthrough day and show up as problems two years later. He started Hargrove in 2010 because he wanted to build renovations the way he'd want his own home built.
In the first year, the company completed four projects — all kitchens, all South Tampa, all by word-of-mouth. Fifteen years later, the company has grown to 12 employees and over 120 completed renovations, but the referral rate hasn't changed. Roughly 80% of new clients come from someone who watched us work in a neighbor's kitchen or bathroom.
James still walks every job site weekly. He still does the in-home consultation on every new project. That contact doesn't get delegated — it's part of how we keep the standard consistent from year one to year fifteen.
